Snowy Saturday

Image
Okay--more like snow/sleet/rain Saturday, but we did wake up to actual snow.  Needless to say, those last couple rows of garlic didn't get planted today.  Instead, there are two new lace ornaments, and more cross stitch!  For the " Fall Back Into Love" Stashdash , one of the categories was 6 rows on your most frustrating WIP.  I was originally thinking the mohair sweater, but every time I thought the word "frustrating" I thought of the 7+ year cross stitch progress.  There are actually far more than 6 new rows now, but I thought I might as well do the thing right and have done another 3 square inches today. Incidentally, I found this yesterday: I don't know if you can see this exactly, but in the first row of yellow/gold stitching there is something wonky with one of the stitches--making it more of a star than a cross.  I know I'm not doing this exactly right as a real purist would have ALL the stitches going the same direction with all the to...

Back at Training Camp....

Image
Bob:  We're back at the Ravelympics training camp, where Ms. Sutton is showing tremendous progress on the one-row scarf: Ron:  I believe she's more than half finished with the scarf, is that correct? Bob: It does look like it Ron.  From here it looks like she might be even farther along--maybe 65%. Ron:  Now this is her core training project--any chance this is also her endurance test project? Bob:  Not a chance.  Ms. Sutton has spent a small amount of time with the mohair sweater, and even some time with Ron:  Cross stitch, now that is a surprising turn of events.  Seeing such an uncharacteristic move this early--could it be Ms. Sutton is cracking from the strain already? Bob:  It's hard to say, Ron, but the presence of the slowest possible craft Ms. Sutton has ever undertaken is a bit worrisome, though perhaps she is trying to finish up her "12 threads" for the 12-12s event before the year advances too far.   Ron:...

A Little Vacation WIP-ing

Image
My friends know me so well.  Gaidig has DARED me to finish the mohair sweater before starting the purple one, and I think we all know that I'm enough of a child to totally get into this , so I have been diligently wrestling with mohair.  And when I've needed a break.... I have been working on THE most pathetic WIP I have.  A pair of EZ's mitered mittens in colors I love that inexplicably were started in October and have been languishing as little more than a cuff for months.  They are now cruising along and THIS time I'm taking decent notes so I don't have to examine the first pair of mittens every 5 minutes to see what I need to be doing.  Honestly--7 months for a pair of mittens?????  That's insane.  In fact, almost as insane as.......... the cross stitch!  As a severe Type-A personality, once in a while I think it's good for me to do something on a vacation that isn't productive at all , and what fits the bill better than cross stitch?...
