Alas, No More Google Reader

Google Reader is going away July 1 (I think).  The first reader I used to keep track of blogs I followed went the way of the dodo a couple years ago, and I had finally almost learned to like Google Reader--just in time for it to go away.

I have been trying to use Feedly, which I truly, truly, TRULY hate, and which is responsible for my falling way behind on my blog reading.  Annoying websites are bad enough, but I'm falling behind with my crafting friends!!!  There may be cool new projects that I haven't even seen, and I haven't had a vicarious yarn-shopping fix in a while.  So you can see why this is a major issue.

How does everyone else keep track of blogs you follow?

I think I am switching to Blogloving, I do not want to have google + and have to have circles and all that other stuff. I ahve not made the break yet, but we are going to have to pretty soon.
Hugs to you,

I'm in the same boat as you. Very upset with Google for taking away this (free) service (and I don't click on ads) (so I guess maybe that's why?) (but aren't they getting lots of good info about me for free, which is what Google is all about?).

I just bookmarked my fav blogs, then I click through them when I have time and inclination. Old-school, perhaps, but I don't have to worry about Google (or whoever) changing things on me like that.

I'm using The Old Reader, which is basically -- the old version of Google reader! It's pretty easy to migrate your feeds over, and the experience is much the same. I don't use any mobile devices, just web-based interface, though, if that's important.

Google Reader was kind of the only way I read anything online for a long time...

Have you tried CommaFeed? It looks very much like Google Reader and you can import your Google Reader feeds, and it's free. I've only just subscribed to it so no long-term experience to share yet but it looks okay so far.

Like Toni, I have a list of links on my blog. But truthfully, what I usually do is several times a week just type the web address into my browser-most of the web addys are pretty easy to remember, and they usually come up in the browser history so I don't even have to type them all.

Though if I get inspired, one of these days I want to loop how Tama at denofchaos.com does the list which gives the date of the last blog entry and redo my list that way. As it would easily flag which blogs have new entries....

I use NetNewsWire on my MacBook. That was freeware, back in the days. It was not on the iPad, and not very good either.

I had Flipboard on the iPad load up blogs to browse, through the googlereader connection, but I still have to explore what the options are on replacing that one.

Oh that previous comment makes as much sense as some of my students in their essays. Clarification: NetNewsWire works fine on the MacBook, it was free. It is not a free app for the iPad, and it is not very good, or I was not very patient in exploring it.
