There Will Be No Theo Picture Today

My little sidekick is upset with me and is even refusing to sew. After all the drugs I've given this cat and all the trips to the vet, I have finally made his bad side.

I have put him on a diet.

We went for a check-up yesterday, and he's gained 3 pounds this year--about 20% of his normal body weight. Admittedly, Theo has had a tough year, and between recovering from his injury & then his determination to watch over me while I recovered from surgery, he hasn't gotten back to his normal active self just yet. The vet gave me some glucosamine to maybe help his leg feel better as he continues to regain strength, and I'm trying to find a new game to interest him as he seems to have lost interest in the tape measure finally, and we're doing a gradual diet, but he's still pretty sulky.

I guess we should have included the cats in the "no processed foods" plan.....

Don't know if you've ever had a Cat Dancer but every cat I've lived with has been absolutely nuts for it. Even Jessie and Jamie when they were in their late teens would bounce all over after this silly little thing. Chief says Theo will love it and not even know he's exercising!

Yes, my cats hate being on a diet also. I have one cat who will play with a laser light, unfortunately she is the one who does not need the diet. The other two are slugs and just sit and watch it. lolol

Heck, most kitties would prefer to eat real food over processed food any day. Hope you get back in Theo's good graces soon.

The one toy both my cats love is a simple home-made one.
Take a 2 yard length of thin, but strong, ribbon. Use this to thread through the centre of a small ball and tie close to the ball, about two or three inches away - one of those which has lots of holes and is made of solid plastic. You will end yup with the ball securely fastened and freely running at one end of an almost one and a half yards of ribbon.
This toy is wonderful for getting cats to chsae up and down stairs and anywhere else. Since the ribbon acts like an axle to the ball. Ours has lasted around three years so far. It was made because one of the cats managed to break their previous favourite toy.
