Two Weeks Down, Four To Go

When they said it would be 6 weeks to recover, I don't know exactly what I thought, but I know I expected to really be able to do almost everything. Obviously, I have been choosing to live in Fantasy Land.

I'm doing better every day, but I now believe that they really mean 6 weeks. There has been one more dish cloth, because these circles are addictiveand it used up the last of a big cone of cotton, which makes me feel good in the STASH PROGRESS sense.

The shawl for my mother is getting the most attention:
though has lost out 2 days running to reading murder mysteries. I would never have believed it, but I really can't knit all the time. The baby blanket has gotten some attention
though it still doesn't look like I've progressed much. I have discovered the key to needlework:

small projects...and possibly a shot of tequila

After this it will be back to pillowcases & smaller items.

I have altered my 10-in-a-row sewing regime just a bit. Because I'm not always able to sit up for long periods of time, regular sewing is still a bit too difficult (though I have high hopes for tomorrow). The embroidery machine can work by itself, soI'm making some gift bags. I thought they'd make fun hostess gifts--maybe a jar of homemade jam & a muffin mix--or a dishcloth.......:)

My sidekick continues to take good care of methough in all honesty I think he's getting a little bored with my inactivity. He meows at me in a rather exasperated tone before curling up with me, so I think even he thinks I've taken this napping thing a bit too far. Soon.....very, very soon........

Then it's back to that dress!

So you really think when I finally submit my thesis and have all the time in the world, I may not WANT to knit all day long? Sigh... another dream blown up by the dynamite of reality...

Keep up the recovery and healing, and do not try to do too much too soon, we want you back in tip top shape, fighting fit for dealing with that stash monster and blogging about it. (although you are doing a splendid job already!)

Healing thoughts coming your way!

Gosh, it looks like you're making a lot of progress though! The washcloths are so cute.

(And- probably just as well you're disillusioning us about the knitting possibilities of surgery- I was thinking earlier this week that appendicitis would be preferable to a couple of upcoming meetings and would get me knitting time- now, not so much...)

Don't rush it, Toni. You'll be back to your old self before you know it!!

I remember when I had back surgery (6 week recovery), I thought I was going to be churning out the needlework. I did do some, but not as much as I thought.

I love those round dishcloths. AND - a whole cone of cotton gone! Those things last forever!! Hurrah!! Score one - Toni!

Oh, yeah, take it easy! Those circular cloths are really quite glamorous; can't you call them facecloths and package them up with some fabulous artisan-made soap or soemthing?? Far too pretty to be used scrubbing baked-on white sauce out of the tuna pasta bake bowl.

Dear Theo, he really is trying to fuss over you! I remember my Felix behaving in exactly the same way after I had had surgery and was stuck in bed for most of the day.
Do look after yourself Toni, and try hard not to rush things.
