Finish-itis--My List

I keep trying to count my remaining WIPs, and keep coming up with a different number. After the Finish-itis contest, we will be embarking on a "learn to count" campaign. So, let's see if I can list them:

1. Magikal Earth Shawl (photo to come when the camera battery is recharged) - more than halfway through the mind-numbing edging (what is it with edging?????)

2. Plum baby aran: front in progress:3. Poodle mohair: body done to sleeeve join, one sleeve in progress4. Blue toddler sweater - back not quite done. Nothing else finished

5. dem fischer sin fru - still not quite halfway through the first clue. Out of 6.6. Fleur - just missing the edging and the right front7. Toddler sweater: needs seams, edging, and one piece knit

8. sleeveless sweater - back mostly done
9. Alpaca cardigan: back, one side, and most of the second side done
10. Glitterspun sweater - back finished, front half finished11. Pi chemo cap - no picture yet.

12. Fir cone shawl - 40% done--can't buy more yarn to finish it until the spending ban is over
13. Hibiscus for hope; hard to say how far along it is--depends how many times I need to rip back the test knit again

14. Sitcom chic - both sleeves now done, main body almost ready for join15. poncho - 60% finished16. Multicolor baby wrap sweater - just needs ribbing - have a picture, but can't locate it.

17. MS3 - 30 rows left to go. Thank God.18. Toddler sweater - Have a picture, but can't find it. Just the back done. Sized for a two-year-old and being knit for a child who is now over one year old. Oops--better get to working on this one...

19. Gridlock - two inches of sweater knitted on a sweater intended for a 6-foot-tall man. So, let's just say 2% done or less--I don't want to think too hard on what is left on this one.
20. Kimono shawl - about 12 inches done--probably 60 more to go
21. Sweater with ribbed yoke: one sleeve and some seams left to go.
Not forgetting the 3 I just finished. 24 WIPs.....wow, maybe I didn't need a contest....maybe I needed an intervention.....

24 WIPs--I think I need to lay down for a moment......

Good heavens--no wonder I don't have any needles. They're all in use!!!

A respectable list I should say, lol. I see mainly sweaters, a few wraps/shawls etc... you love knitting sweaters! I do too, they are just the right challenge!

I am in awe of your WIP list. The sheer variety and ambition are amazing! Can't wait to see more of them become FOs.

Well, Theo is making a strong case for the alpaca, though he seems resigned to the eventual triumph of Sitcom Chic.

But wow- look at all those tiny little sweaters close to done, that you could knock off in a matter of a day or three! I foresee your FO list growing enormously! (Not to mention, there must be a lot of partial balls of yarn in there that could be used and tallied.)

I *so* need to knit some little sweaters. Nephews. I have nephews that I'm pretty sure don't have a single handknit sweater. Yet.

Wow. You really do like to start new stuff! :) Good for you for loving your knitting. Now, get to work and finish it!

I vote for the Glitterspun sweater first. I would like to see how that one turns out especially.

I'm not sure I'll have a prouder accomplishment all year--or a more surprising one.  I think I have a few fingerprints left. Andy is gone for the weekend, so the kitties and I are having a crafting weekend.  With their help,  I finished the first project of the year. The colors are a bit more subdued in real life, but I don't know how to reduce the intensity of this cell phone's camera.  I also cut some more strips for other projects, and wound another Hank from Hell:  A couple years ago I bought some Feza Rio that was on clearance, and for a cashmere/merino blend, it's not at all soft, and until this yarn, I didn't know one could hank yarn badly, but there does seem to be a way to do it so unevenly that permanent kinks are put into the yarn, and if that weren't enough fun, rather than being normal human beings who tie the ends into the threads holding the hank in place, these deranged maniacs tied the two ends together and snipped off the end...

Whew, It's Been A While.

Wow - more than a year.   I am still crafting - lots of chemo caps knitted this year, but I'm also still learning to quilt.  This, is one of a set of table runners after I made a huge mistake on what was going to be a quilt.  Whoops.  That's twice I've done that.  I'd show you the other set, but blogger isn't letting me upload any older pictures.  I can show you this, which is from a kit and is one of my new favorites. This quilt, is my first attempt with a striped fabric, and is going to be shipped off to it's recipient today, who hopefully doesn't suffer from dizziness or vertigo.  What I learned from THIS project is that stripes aren't always printed straight, and if they are, I certainly don't always cut or sew straight.  Ahem... I am back to working from home.  I had been the marketing director for a local air conditioning company, but it was a family business, and what I discovered during the slow months is that it was a nightmare....

Ostrich Plume Scarf

This scarf is actually very simple, but I'm trying to make the directions as thorough as possible.  It has a moss-stitch border of 6 rows on top and bottom and 4 stitches on each side, and uses the stitch pattern KNOWN as Ostrich Plume (hence the name).  There's a 3-stitch decrease using a slip 2, k1, pass slipped stitches over, which creates a nicer look than the traditional slip 1, k2tog, pass slipped stitch over technique, but feel free to use the more traditional decrease if you choose.  I used a shorter bottom and top edging to allow the wavy stitch pattern to pull the border into the wave effect, but you could certainly add a few extra rows of moss-stitch to the top and bottom if you would like. I have written this to slip the first stitch of all but the very first row as I think it makes a nicer edge, but you may choose to simply knit them.  As a matter of personal preference, I never slip the first stitch of the first row--it doesn't work with some cast-o...
