Leaving pieces of things seems to lead them becoming separated, lost, and possibly cat toys. (Ask me how I know...)<br /><br />And I'd love to hear your thoughts on various cast-ons for tops of socks. I use long tail now and again, but I have to work really hard to keep it loose. Toe up I can use a sewn cast-off, which I prefer for stretchiness. I don't really have a go-to cast on for top down socks as yet.
